What local processing means
VideoCompressTool processes selected videos locally in your browser. We do not upload videos to our server for compression, do not store video content, and use limited account, payment, feedback, cookie and technical information only to operate and improve the service.

Are videos uploaded?
No. The file is read by your browser and processed with ffmpeg.wasm on your device.
Why might the output not be smaller?
A video that is already compressed may not shrink much. Try higher CRF or a smaller target.
Why do large files fail more often?
Large files need more memory and CPU. Desktop browsers are more reliable.
Should I use H.264 or H.265?
Use H.264 for compatibility. H.265 can be smaller but is slower and less compatible.
Can I close the page while compressing?
No. Closing or refreshing the page interrupts the task and clears temporary files.
